New Wellstowne was the first rendition of Wellstowne to contain a highly extensive set of rules. These rules were often seen as harsh and excessive, and has earned the map the nickname "Wellstowne Communism." The original rule sheet can be found [[1]].

Rules

Section 0: Admins and Moderators

Admin:

Mods:

Section 1: Ground Rules

1a - Respect all rules, admin and moderators, and fellow server members.

1b - All admin and moderator decisions are final.

1c - Do not use any mods while on the server except for mods that improve gameplay (Optifine, etc). No fly hacks, inventory editors, or any other type of hack or mod is allowed.

1d - Only moderators may go into Creative Mode, and only with explicit permission from the server admin.

1e - Spawning items, flying, setting time and teleporting are never allowed unless explicitly allowed by the server admin (and this should be a rare occurrence).

1f - Moderators may only kick and ban when there is a legitimate reason to do so. They must explain their reasoning publicly to the server.

1g - By playing on this server, you agree to obeying every rule listed here, and any new rules instated hereafter.

Section 2: For the Community

2a - Gather for the community first, yourself second. Donate the majority of your gathered materials to the community. Your private chest is for tools, personal enchanted items, and potions, not random building materials.

2b - Enchanted Items are automatically personal items. Members are not required nor expected to donate personal items to the community (though they are welcome to if they wish). Pressuring or demanding a member donate a personal item is impolite and uncouth.

2c - Participate in community projects.

2d - Harvest and replant community farms when needed.

2e - Repair damage.

2f - If a server member dies and you are close by, try to rescue their fallen items. If recovered, return the items to the owner as soon as possible.

Section 3: Labeling

3a - Label your constructions with a sign stating your username.

3b - Any chest inside a structure labeled with a member’s username is private. Any outside chest labeled with a sign is also private unless otherwise noted.

3c - All chests in community projects or public areas are considered public.

3d - Chests without private labels are considered public.

Section 4: Resource Gathering

4a - Be considerate when gathering materials.

4b - Mines and caves are open to everyone.

4c - Don’t leave floating trees! Cut down the whole tree, and then replant at least one sapling for each tree cut down.

4d - Do not mine sand from beaches! Only mine sand from landlocked sand piles or deserts.

4e- Unless otherwise noted, do not mine underneath a structure or town, be it private or public.

4f - All materials are precious! Never build an incinerator or other disposal device and destroy unwanted materials or items. Instead, donate them to the Community Warehouse in New Wellstowne.

Section 5: Building

5a - For structures in or around New Wellstowne, get permission from The_AJAXX or moderators before building.

5b - For structures away from the city, please inform The_AJAXX of your intentions before building. This does not apply to whole cities (see 5c).

5c - Only The_AJAXX has the power to found cities, though he may pass on mayoral duties to someone else.

5d - Observe all posted building styles and aesthetic rules. These may vary per city, area or community project.

5e - Be careful when using lava and fire, especially around wooden items.

5f - Don’t leave holes in the ground.

5g - Don’t leave giant “noob towers” reaching for the sky.

5h - If you damage a building, REPAIR IT.

5i - If you cause a creeper to explode, repair the damage, even if it is a hole in an undeveloped area.

Section 6: Never Do The Following

In addition to all other “do not” rules seen in previous sections:

6a - Do not craft or store TNT.

6b - Do not keep gunpowder. Upon acquiring gunpower, immediately deposit it in the vault.

6c - Do not house farm animals in your personal plot.

6d - Do not hoard precious materials.

6e - Do not grief.

6f - Do not post racist, sexist or otherwise offensive comments in chat. Keep language to PG. This includes in-game text chat and the audio chat.

6g - Do not enter someone’s marked house without their explicit permission.

6h - Do not steal from chests.

Section 7: Resolving Disputes

7a - If a server member is killed by another server member without provocation, the victim will receive from the perpetrator an enchanted sword or pickaxe equal or greater to the XP value lost when they died. All items recovered from the victim will be returned.

7b - For violating the rules, a server member will be banned for one month and then be on probation for an additional month afterward During this ban, all items will be confiscated from the member, but the member’s house will be untouched.

7c - For gross and blatant violation of the rules, the server member will be banned permanently, with no hope of unbanning. All of the member’s items will be confiscated and their residence dismantled.

Rules Specific to New Wellstowne

In additional to all of the Pixelated Pickaxe server rules (available in the Recessed Spawn Welcome Center), residents of New Wellstowne must obey the following rules:

Defining New Wellstowne The city limits of New Wellstowne are defined by its perimeter wall. However, the outer limits of New Wellstowne reach out beyond the wall and continue until the outer wall is not visible in Far render distance (no fog). If there is any confusion on whether or not a location is outside the New Wellstowne Outer Limits, consult a mod.

New Arrivals New arrivals to the server are to stay in the Green Zone Hotel (the building you are currently in) for one week as they familiarize themselves with the server and contribute to the community by gathering materials. Once they have proven themselves by helping with community projects, gathering materials, defending against hostile mobs and other duties, they may purchase a plot in the Residential District of New Wellstowne. The price will be negotiated between the buyer and the admin/moderators.

Buildings and Structures Structures cannot unrealistically “float.” Both the interiors and exteriors of all buildings inside the New Wellstowne wall perimeter must be lit up enough to prevent hostile mobs from spawning. Avoid copious amounts of obnoxious building materials, including cobblestone and gold/diamond blocks. Excepting personal plots (identified with a server member’s username), all buildings in New Wellstowne are public.

Personal Plot Owners may stay in their plot as long as they continue to contribute to the community. The rest of the community will determine if the contributions are satisfactory. Houses built in the plot may be a maximum of two stories high, with one level of basement below. Do not create a mine or excavation under your plot. A maximum of one (1) double-wide chest is allowed per member. If you run out of storage space in this chest, it is clear you are not donating enough to the Community Warehouses. If more than one double-wide chest is found on a personal plot, it is assumed that you are generously donating all of your supplies to the community, and all of your chests will be emptied.

Community Contributions Everyone is to contribute to the community by donating a portion of their gathered resources to the Community Warehouses, in the Industry District. This includes ores and rare materials. The rest of the community will make sure everyone is contributing their fair share of resources.
