Wellstowne Worlds |
New Wellstowne was the third iteration of Wellstowne, immediately following the temporary creative world Wellstowne Frontier. The emphasis of the server was to be on community projects and building, and this was heavily reflected in the rules, which to this day are considered to be the most extensive in Pixelated Pickaxe history. The world opened on November 18, 2011, in a limited capacity while the administrative team consisting of The_AJAXX, BestTux, Mr_Littlebrick, wenchance, and Burrowdizzy established the spawn point and boundaries for the main city. During this time, the server was "griefed" by Mr_Littlebrick, who decided to release a scrounge of snow golems upon the city and Nathan Wells upgraded to server host LethalDrive, paid for primarily by YouTube ad revenue. The official dedication of the server occurred on December 3rd. Server members entered the nether two weeks after this, and the nether had to be deleted two days later as somebody had prematurely created a portal which, per Pixelated Pickaxe tradition at the time, created issues such as a "a crazy unstable network of portals linking everywhere and anywhere in the Nether and Overworld," much to the displeasure of Nathan Wells.
As all materials were to be donated to the Community Warehouse (New Wellstowne), shops were considered unnecessary, and most building happened in the main city under the protection of the New Wellstowne Perimeter Wall.
Rules
New Wellstowne was notorious for being the most rule-heavy iteration of Wellstowne in Pixelated Pickaxe history. Of particular notoriety was the requirement that all players could only have one double chest of personal items in the main city, and all other items must be stored in the community warehouse. This rule sparked the commonly used nickname Wellstowne Communism for referring to the New Wellstowne world. Nathan specifically requested that members get permission to build outside of the main city if their construction was in view of the perimeter wall. Additionally, the only people allowed to construct portals were The_AJAXX and Mr_Littlebrick, the chief portal engineer, and all other members would be banned. One such member was EdMod.
